AU426: Business in Tourism at ATU Galway/Mayo is a full time two year level 6 full time Higher Certificate programme designed to equip students for a variety of business roles within the Tourism sector. You will gain operational and supervisor skills and the necessary entrepreneurial skills to facilitate the creation of business start-ups. Throughout the programme students participate in a number of field trips that will put the learnings from class into practice.
Students gain tourism industry skills related to the hotel and hospitality industry how to manage the accommodation department, be competent in running front of house and practical experience of food and beverages. There is an opportunity to learn Spanish on this course, taking students from a beginner’s level to the competency to oral comprehension, written comprehension and develop communicative skills. Students develop an understanding of accounting, financial analysis, budget preparation, and cash management to sustain a business environment. The regional guiding module provides students with the knowledge and skills for guiding, including research, communication, and leadership. Students learn about market profiles, interpersonal skills, Irish heritage, history, and safety. They also develop the ability to research, compile guiding materials, and lead tour groups effectively.

Entry Requirements:
As of 2023 the points required for this course are 259. You are required to have a minimum of F3/O6/H7 in Irish, O6/H7 in English, F2/O6/H7 in Maths.
