It was a free event and was facilitated by volunteer DkIT staff across all 3 departments in the School of Informatics and Creative Arts. Students took part in workshops on topics such as: Programming, Web Development, Animation, Film, Games Development and Networking. At the event students also got an introduction to data science, which is a huge part of one of the Institute’s popular new courses: Mathematics & Data science. The Computing Industry is one of the biggest sectors of the economy and qualified graduates are constantly in demand both nationally and internationally with many DkIT students receiving job offers before graduating. DkIT are delighted to report that 75% of graduates from the BSc in Computing were in employment within 6 months of graduating and over 60% of them earning €30-€50k. From the BSc (Hons) in Computing in Games Development 83% were in employment within 6 months of graduating with all working in Ireland, and from the BSc (Hons) in Computing in Software Development 91% were in employment with 73% earning €30-€50k within 6 months of graduating.

This recent event allowed TY students to get a taste of a wide variety of computing and creative subjects to help inform their decisions as they move closer to leaving school in the next few years. Along with in depth overviews of computing related topics, students were also given a tour of the Carroll's building, which houses the Institute’s state-of-the-art facilities in TV/Film, Audio/Video Production and Computing.
