DKIT Maths Entry Examination

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are happy to report that they are running an additional Maths Entry Examination to allow applicants to pass the Additional Maths Entry Requirements for the following level 8 courses, BEng (Hons) in Engineering (Common Entry), BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Systems, BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, BSc (Hons) in Computing in Games Development.

If you have met the basic maths entry requirement for a level 8 programme at DkIT but have failed to meet the additional Maths Entry Requirements for the above programmes, DkIT may be able to help. The DkIT Maths Entry Examination is aimed at candidates who have either sat the Higher-Level Maths paper for the Leaving Certificate or have studied the Higher-Level Maths syllabus to an advanced level during their senior cycle but may have opted for the Ordinary Level Maths paper.

Those who wish to participate in these exams are advised to attend the Short Preparation Course from the 26th to the 28th of August 2024, before the exam on Monday 2nd of September 2024.

Robyn Wods from Dundalk who is currently a student on the BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering joined the Civil Engineering course in DkIT through Available Places after studying 2 months of Psychology in another College. “When I decided I wanted to do Engineering I applied to DkIT and was able to achieve the maths requirements for my course through DkIT’s Maths Entry Exam which are held on campus”.

The fee for the Maths Entry Exam is €30 and the Preparation Session is included in this price. The final results from the Maths Entry Examination will be taken into account for second and third-round offers. Results will be available within a few days of the examination.

Participants must pre-register for both the Short Preparation Course and the Maths Entry Exam by 2 pm on Sunday the 25th of August 2024. Further details will be provided after registration. To register please email [email protected]
