Tourism Course of the Month - MT554: Hospitality Management at MTU Cork

MT554: Hospitality Management at MTU Cork is a three year full time programme that is structured to combine key management skills, knowledge and competencies in a classroom environment with practical elements of hospitality management. Students will be taught through a mixture of formal lectures, tutorials, team project work and individual work, guest speakers and external field trips.

On the MTU Cork campus, the Tourism and Hospitality Building is equipped with state of the art demonstration and production kitchens, UT and Front Office Laboratories.

Students have the pick of electives to curate their own degree by choosing topics that interest them.

Learners on the course must participate in a minimum 12 week mandatory work placement between year one and year two and a six month management placement.

Students will learn the process of managing food and beverage operations theoretically and through a practical format. Learners will become familiar with the operations of hotels, restaurants and bars.

All in all, this course will set you up for a successful career in the Tourism and Hospitality industry.

Entry Requirements:

As of 2022, the points required for this course are 204. These are subject to change. Applicants will need a minim of O6/H7 in English, Irish and Maths.

This Higher Education course in the CAO will also accept any QQI Level 5 or Level 6 Major Award for entry into this course. To view these courses see here.
