Course Summary
Course Category: PLC (Further Education - FET) Apply directly to College
On this course you will learn how to take the design and software tools of game design to create new gaming experiences. We believe the key to becoming a successful games designer is not just having the skills but having the knowledge of how to use creative and technical skills together. You will learn how to fuse the technical and the creative aspects of game development by combining the skill of art and design (storyboarding, character development and drawing) with computing (3D, coding and graphics). This will provide you with a well-rounded foundation to further your game development career either at degree level, or follow an indie path.
Student Experience
The college experience is central to a successful and enjoyable engagement with Further Education. At Blackrock Further Education Institute (BFEI), learners study in an award winning campus, arguably one of the best in Ireland. The wide range of courses on offer, provide learners a pathway to Higher Education or directly to employment. However, it is the range of activities, both educational and extra-curricular, that contribute most to a positive college experience and will be remembered fondly by learners.
A positive college experience motivates learners, creates lasting friendships, improves retention rates and assessment results. It creates a welcoming, caring environment for study and work.
A full list of activities, social nights, competitions, societies, charity works, workshops, presentations, guest-speakers, etc. is far too long for this page. Current and prospective BFEI learners are strongly encouraged to follow our events on social media.

Creative
Creative people are drawn to careers and activities that enable them to take responsibility for the design, layout or sensory impact of something (visual, auditory etc). They may be atrracted to the traditional artistic pursuits such as painting, sculpture, singing, or music. Or they may show more interest in design activities, such as architecture, animation, or craft areas, such as pottery and ceramics.

Some will want to write about their own ideas and may follow a path towards journalism, story writing or editing. Others will develop skills in other languages, perhaps finding work as a translator or interpreter. Most Linguistic types will enjoy the opportunity to teach or instruct people in a topic they are interested in.
