Early childhood education and care (ECEC) reflects a holistic view of the education. You will have the opportunity to study modules such as Child Health and Wellbeing, Play, STEAM, Curriculum, Leadership and Management and School Age Childcare. This course is designed to equip graduates with the essential core knowledge practices and values to fulfill the role of professional Early Childhood Educator.

Career Interests

Social
The Social person's interests focus on interacting with the people in their environment. In all cases, the Social person enjoys the personal contact with other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.
Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.
Career Progression
Graduates can avail of various employment opportunities, including early childhood educators and managers of early years settings in both the private and community sectors, Barnardos Early Years Services educator, Development Officer in Childcare Committees, Early Intervention teachers, Inspectors with TUSLA and Department of Education and Skills.
Upon completion of this course students will be able to progress on to the Level 8 BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree, subject to availability of places.
