This course advances the student’s skills acquired in year 1 and builds and develops professional skills required to work in the industry. Students work with their clients in an open salon in the Institute as well as during their work experience module. This ensures that students will have developed the necessary employability skills to meet the needs of their clients in the hairdressing industry, from booking the appointment, providing the service and offering hair or product advice.

Career Progression
Professional hairdressers are much sought after throughout the world and there is no limit to the career opportunities in this creative and changing industry. Qualified hairdressers work as junior and senior hair stylists, colour technicians, salon managers, salon co-ordinators and product consultants. They may work as freelance stylists running their own businesses. Employment can be obtained in small businesses covering a wide range of treatments or alternatively in large businesses where there is an opportunity to specialise.
