Students who undertake this one-year course in Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Learners will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

Career Progression

This course enables graduates to progress to a Level 6 award and thereafter apply to progress to the Level 8 degree offered at the Royal College of Surgeons. Alternatively, students can progress to a sports or science related Level 8 degree and then to the Level 9 Physiotherapy at UCD. There are many progression options for students to study physiotherapy in the UK. Graduates may also apply for several other Level 7 and 8 degrees in Universities and ITs or private colleges around the country. The Pre-Physiotherapy course is very valuable for students and permits them to directly access employment.
