This course is a joint initiative between Epilepsy Ireland, Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education Training Board and IT Sligo. The course aims to equip students to build the knowledge, skills and competence required for participation in higher and further education and employment. The programme supports the acquisition of independent learning, critical thinking and key skills for academic research and enquiry. The programme aims to empower students to: identify a career of their choice, set realistic educational and employment goals, acquire the skills and confidence to gain employment, learn about the the nature and management of epilepsy, promote inclusion in the third level environment and enhance individual employability.
The course is suitable for people with epilepsy or similiar conditions who may have experienced difficulty in school, in choosing a career, or may have had to change career direction as a result of developing epilepsy.
