This one-year course will aim to offer students an introduction to the world of Augmented and Virtual Reality, providing students with the knowledge and skills to develop, design and evaluate immersive experiences with virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies. Augmented and Virtual Reality is one of the fastest growing areas in the software industry, as well as, information technology which has been a growth area in Ireland for quite some time.

Over the last few years, VR has become more widely adopted due to increasing consumer and enterprise demand, growing use cases and a booming ecosystem. Virtual reality is most commonly used in entertainment applications such as video games, 3D cinema and areas including surgery, flight simulators and social virtual worlds.

Career Progression

The aim of this programme is to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, build and evaluate immersive user experiences using virtual, augmented and mixed reality tools and technologies.

Graduates will acquire core competencies in computing, design and animation making them suitable for employment in immersive design and development across a range of industries and/or graduates are eligible to apply for degrees to universities and technological universities for level 7 and level 8 degree places throughout the country such as TUD, Trinity College, DCU, UCC, DKIT, MTU, ATU and TUS to mention a few.
