Engineering is a highly diversified and exciting profession with a wide range of specialisms from mechanical, civil, electrical, computer, building, biomedical, structural, modern technologies, aircraft to mention a few. Everything around us has been designed and mostly by Engineers. They are problem solvers and creative investigative people. From life-saving biomedical technology to energy-efficient housing and sustainable energy, engineers are developing innovative solutions for the benefit of society.
Many areas that future engineers will work in have not yet been created, which results in a very exciting sector for an individual to study and work. For those who wish to engage on a career in engineering, this course aims to prepare the student with an understanding of the field of engineering and will prepare students for entry into third level, through a range of practical and theoretical subjects

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Career Progression
Students are well placed to gain apprenticeships in the many different engineering sectors through Generation Apprenticeship Ireland on such programmes as Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Services Management and Equipment Systems Engineering.
