Entry Requirements
•Students from a non-business degree (example – BA or a BSc) but with relevant economics/finance related modules may also be eligible.
•Graduates who have achieved a 2nd class honours grade 2 in the degrees listed above and who can demonstrate a high level of performance in the economics/finance related subjects may be considered.
•Students without a Level 8 qualification may qualify under RPL as per SETU Waterford academic guidelines on RPL.
•Applicants whose first language is not English must submit evidence of competency in English, please see SETU Waterford’s English Language Requirements for details.

Investigative
The Investigative person will usually find a particular area of science to be of interest. They are inclined toward intellectual and analytical activities and enjoy observation and theory. They may prefer thought to action, and enjoy the challenge of solving problems with sophiscticated technology. These types prefer mentally stimulating environments and often pay close attention to developments in their chosen field.
Administrative
Administrative people are interested in work that offers security and a sense of being part of a larger process. They may be at their most productive under supervisors who give clear guidelines and while performing routine tasks in a methodical and reliable way.
They tend to enjoy clerical and most forms of office work, where they perform essential administrative duties. They often form the backbone of large and small organisations alike. They may enjoy being in charge of office filing systems, and using computers and other office equipment to keep things running smoothly. They usually like routine work hours and prefer comfortable indoor workplaces.
Career Progression
Successful completion of the Certificate in Economics and Finance will open up opportunities for graduates to progress in their careers.
Further study options for graduates, such as completing the Master of Business (Economics and Finance stream) will be open to graduates.
Graduates are employed in positions such as investment banking, corporate banking, trading/dealing, portfolio management, asset pricing, treasury, capital markets (equity, money, bond, FX and derivatives markets), risk management and financial analysis.
Duration
The programme will be delivered one/two evenings per week and over a small number of Saturdays primarily in Kilkenny and on occasion in Waterford.
