Entry Requirements

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should possess the maturity to reflect on their development as a person and have completed one of the following:

Level 8 accredited degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy
OR

Accredited Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy plus Level 8 degree in a related area plus submission of a clinical portfolio
OR

BABCP-recognised core profession (Psychiatry, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and GP's )

CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS
You must be deemed suitable to work with clients within your core profession (counselling/psychotherapy or cognate discipline) in order to meet the placement requirement (30 hours of one-to-one work with clients), i.e. you must be working within a role that enables the integration of CBT skills on a one-to-one basis.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to satisfy the English language requirement. Applicants whose first language is not English and are presenting qualifications obtained in a language other than English may satisfy the requirement through the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) on the basis that they obtain a minimum band score of 6.5 at postgraduate level or an equivalent score of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or Cambridge, which denotes a very good skill level of English.

IT SKILLS
Students require sufficient IT skills to complete the course

Entry is by application form and submission of relevant certificates/transcripts. Applicants are invited to book online using the book now.

Applicants will be assessed for suitability based on their existing qualification, evidence within the application form that they possess the maturity to reflect on their development as a person, are suitable to meet the placement criteria and can satisfy the English language requirements.

Students can expect to be provided with advice and support concerning any learning difficulties that they may encounter. Any diagnosed learning difficulty, e.g. dyslexia, must be noted on the application.

Please note that there is an additional charge of €20 for the Garda vetting process which is required prior to course entry which not included in the above fees. The additional cost of clinical supervision is also not included in course fees above. Clinical supervision can cost from €60 per session upwards. Fees are negotiable between learners and individual supervisors.

In the event that your application is unsuccessful, €60 of your fee paid when booking is kept by PCI College for administration costs.

Applications must be accompanied by the payment of the full course fee. Applicants are entitled to a refund if they decide to cancel within 14 days of receipt of their booking, and didn't participate on the course. Please note that the name used on your application needs to be the same name that you have on your passport.

DELIVERY MODE: Blended: Module 1: Day 1 will take place in your physical class venue, Days 2 & 3 will be conducted in a live, online virtual classroom. Module 2: days 4 & 5 will take place in your physical class venue.
