Brief Description:
Jewish Studies seeks to promote an understanding of Judaism as a major world religion and to give students an appreciation of its historical, literary and cultural contribution to the world.
How will Jewish Studies be useful to me?
Students taking Jewish Studies will develop an understanding and appreciation of different beliefs, peoples and cultures and a tolerance and respect for the values and beliefs of all.
In today's increasingly diverse culture, it is important to have an understanding of the different cultural and religious traditions found not just in Ireland, but in Europe and the wider world.
Jewish Studies also contributes to the development of skills such as historical and literary investigation, working with evidence, information processing, argumentation, critical thinking and analysis. It has links with other subjects such as Civics, Social SPHE, Religious Education, and History.
