To apply for the ATU Sports Scholarship programme, athletes/applicants must fulfil the eligibility criteria listed below:
  1. Students must meet the GMIT admission requirements through the CAO system and must have registered on a programme of academic study at GMIT
  2. Compete and perform at International, National, Inter-provincial, Inter-county and/or Senior Club level
  3. Commit to an appropriate level of commitment to your club at ATU and represent the Institute in intervarsity and other competitions and/or training
  4. Commit to making a contribution to the administration, coaching, promotion and development of the ATU club
  5. Please note that meeting all the above criteria does not mean automatic acceptance to the Scholarship Programme.

Tusla and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth have secured Dormant Accounts funding to provide a Bursary Scheme to young adults who have had a care experience of at least 6 months and are aged 18 or over.   The funding is intended to support and assist young adults to achieve their full potential in education or training. This scheme will provide funding for young adults to access further education and to support their career development. It has been developed to support young people who are not receiving specific State funding for their education and/or training.  Eligible people will be able to apply for funding up to €5,000.

The Google Insight Scholarship programme is the largest scholarship programme of its kind in Ireland. With a funding package of 1.5 million euro, more than 60 undergraduate students will receive scholarship support between 2024-2029.

The scholarship will support 3rd level students from underrepresented and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and communities, with a particular focus placed on students studying courses related to artificial intelligence (AI) and digital safety.

The fields of AI and digital safety are rapidly evolving, and there is a growing need for scholarships to support students from underserved and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and communities. The programme aims to assist underrepresented students in completing their undergraduate degree, through scholarship funding and wrap-around support.

To qualify for the scholarship programme applicants must be from an under-represented socioeconomically disadvantaged background. Applicants will need to be registered with their university access office. Applicants will need to fall under one or more of the following categories, including but not limited to:​

HEAR Students​
DARE Students​
Members of the Traveller community​ and members of the Roma community
Lone Parents​ and Care leavers
Women in STEM

Successful applicants will be awarded €5,000 per year, up to a maximum duration of 5 years. Students must be registered with Atlantic Technical University Access Office, and also registered to one of the eligible courses.

The purpose of this funding is to encourage participation and success by students from sections of society that are significantly under-represented in Higher Education. New entrants to Higher Education who are socio-economically disadvantaged, meet the income threshold and represent one or more of the target groups are invited to apply.  200 Bursaries are available nationwide, which have been divided amongst clusters of Third Level Institutions. ATU are part of the BMW Cluster together with NUI Galway and has received an allocation of six bursaries. The 1916 Bursary is worth €5,000 per academic year to each of the six recipients.
