Students present to academic staff initially, and based on this a shortlist of students is chosen to present in front of the AIB Agri-team, where a winner and two runners up are chosen. In total, €1,000 in prize money is up for grabs.

The Coillte Forestry Scholarship will provide up to €20,000 financial support to two students who choose a degree course in forestry at either University College Dublin (UCD) or South East Technological University (SETU). BSc in Agriculture project poster award was sponsored by Comeragh Veterinary Practice. The students in their final year of this three year degree presented their poster which outlined their project findings.

The Dairymaster Student Award, recognises the achievements of BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science degree students with the best final year project presentations 

The Dawn Meats Food Science & Innovation Award award is presented to a student of the BSc (Hons) in Food Science and Innovation, who is judged to have the best overall final product and presentation of the Food Innovation Module.

Individuals who demonstrate that they have the potential to excel in their chosen discipline. The recipient will receive support services to support them in their academic studies and athletic performance. The recipient will also have the opportunity to be awarded a financial bursary within the same academic year as a result of high excellent performances for SETU Waterford subject to review by the scholarship committee.

The scholarship is primarily for 1 year but students can remain on the programme for a second year if the committee feels they have potential to make the progression to the next level.

The awards, kindly sponsored by Eurofins Scientific, honour the best project presentations from final year students in the Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology with Biopharmaceutical Science programme.

The Google Insight Scholarship programme is the largest scholarship programme of its kind in Ireland. With a funding package of 1.5 million euro, more than 60 undergraduate students will receive scholarship support between 2024-2029.

The scholarship will support 3rd level students from underrepresented and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and communities, with a particular focus placed on students studying courses related to artificial intelligence (AI) and digital safety.

The fields of AI and digital safety are rapidly evolving, and there is a growing need for scholarships to support students from underserved and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and communities. The programme aims to assist underrepresented students in completing their undergraduate degree, through scholarship funding and wrap-around support.

To qualify for the scholarship programme applicants must be from an under-represented socioeconomically disadvantaged background. Applicants will need to be registered with their university access office. Applicants will need to fall under one or more of the following categories, including but not limited to:​

HEAR Students​
DARE Students​
Members of the Traveller community​ and members of the Roma community
Lone Parents​ and Care leavers
Women in STEM

Successful applicants will be awarded €5,000 per year, up to a maximum duration of 5 years. Students must be registered with SETU Waterford Access Office, and also registered to one of the eligible courses.

Monetary Value: €4,000 SETU in Waterford, the Gaelic Players Association and the Women’s Gaelic Players Association have announced that they will be extending their Graduate Business Scholarship agreement for GPA & WGPA members for another three years. The partnership has been mutually beneficial to date, with ten members of both associations receiving scholarship awards to facilitate their participation in the exclusive suite of Graduate Business programmes at WIT. Five annual Scholarships for GPA/WGPA members are available on a number of programmes: MBS Marketing; MBS Management; MBS Human Resource Management; MBS Economics & Finance and the Executive MBA.

Monetary Value: €1,000 This bursary is for students who intend to travel overseas as part of their work placement module and is open to students from the BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science and BSc in Agriculture programmes. Currently, the Agricultural Science Association (ASA) and Glanbia provide sponsorship of €1,000 to students from the BSc in Agriculture programme, while the ASA and Seedtech sponsor students from the BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science programme. Please note industry sponsors may change each year. The successful students contribute articles to the Farmers Journal. News items will also feature in the local press from the students' hometown.

The John Hume Combined Credit Union Scholarship is open to first year undergraduate business student and is presented to the best applicant from a first year business programme in the School. The Scholarship raises the profile of the relationship between business and the community and the relationship between the School and the credit union movement. The Scholarship recipient holds it for their period of study.

Monetary Value: €1,500 The MOY Materials scholarship valued at €1,500 is offered annually to a 4th year student of the BSc in Architectural & BIM Technology honours degree programme along with a job placement opportunity.

Each year, the GAA Munster Council part-fund 10 GAA Scholarship Awards for students from Munster. These awards are available in hurling, men’s and ladies’ gaelic football and camogie. Application forms for these are available in September from the SETU Waterford Sport Scholarship Office. You can only receive this award for 2 years. The SANOFI scholarship is targeted at SETU in Waterford students who have a vision to become a female leader in business. Through this scholarship you will be supported by SANOFI through sponsorship, mentoring and work experience to fulfil your potential and become a leader of the future.

The School of Business Entrepreneurial Scholarship programme encourages and rewards an inspiring School of Business undergraduate student who demonstrate an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. The successful student will receive a bursary of €2,000 per year of study (to be paid in two instalments per programme year) along with €500 per semester for student services. The student will also be part of the Student Ambassador programme for the duration of their studies, representing SETU in Waterford and the School.

These are awarded to Waterpark RFC players who Waterpark have decided to support with their studies. This includes a full range of support services and a bursary from SETU & Waterpark RFC.

SETU's Rising Stars entry scheme offers our CAO applicants who demonstrate exceptional achievements and participation in sports, active citizenship, creative arts or innovation & entrepreneurship an opportunity to apply for additional CAO points.

The programme gives talented gamers the opportunity to develop both their game and academic career by offering a network of support services and expertise which is tailored around the specific needs of each individual student. The aim of the programme is to increase SETU Viking Sport’s engagement with the younger community who may not associate largely with traditional sport.

The Sports Scholarship Programme at SETU in Waterford offers an athlete led development programme aimed at supporting the overall development of high performance athletes in a wide range of sports.
Each academic year, SETU in Waterford provides up to 50 Sports Scholarship Awards distributed between four awarding categories which reflect the sporting level a student is competing at within their sporting discipline.

The awards, kindly sponsored by Source BioScience, honour the best project presentations from final year-students in the Level 7 BSc in Applied Biology / BSc in Molecular Biology with Biopharmaceutical Science programme.

Reserved for athletes who have demonstrated outstanding sporting ability and have a proven track record of success at the highest level. These athletes will have received individual recognition for performances on the national or international stage. These athletes will receive academic fee support, €2,000 bursary and individual support services.

Sport Scholarships are given to those students who are excelling in their sport and participating at the highest level they can compete at. Those awarded this scholarship will receive a financial bursary and full support services for the year.

The SVP Education and Training Bursary Fund has been established to support students of all ages who may  financially struggle to access or stay in third level education and training programmes.

The Bursaries are targeted at students who are socio-economically disadvantaged and who are from one of the following target groups:

• Socio-economic groups that have low participation rates in higher education
• First time, mature student entrants;
• Students with a disability – particularly students with a physical/mobility impairment, students are who deaf/hard of hearing and students who are blind or have a visual impairment;
• Irish Travellers;
• Further education award holders;
• Lone parents in receipt of a means tested social welfare payment (at least 20% of the bursaries will be targeted at lone parents);
• Ethnic minorities (including programme refugees), children in the care of the State

The family of Una McDermott  have generously established a fund to honour the memory of our colleague, teacher and friend Una McDermott, former Horticulture lecturer in Teagasc and SETU in Waterford. Una was a great believer in travelling abroad  to experience and learn about horticulture and we are pleased and thankful that the Una McDermott Bursary will make that dream a reality for some.
