Students gain employment within the health service working in Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Community Care Homes. Many students also progress to third level institutions to study nursing and midwifery.

Learners are offered a practical and theoretical introduction to a career in nursing. Learners complete work placement in a clinical/ward environment. Training is completed using simulation equipment to help learners understand how to care for patients. The programme gives learners a realistic insight into what the world of nursing entails and enhances learner's opportunities to get a place on a third-level college course. Many higher education colleges have reserved places on their courses for graduates of QQI Nursing Studies.
