Speech and Language Therapists support and care for people of all ages with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties. Working with other professionals in multidisciplinary teams, the therapist works closely with patients and their families to establish a therapeutic programme to help each patient communicate as effectively as possible as part of their recovery journey.
The Speech and Language Therapy Assistant course will focus on developing the students understanding of a variety of communication and swallowing disorders and there impact on every aspect of a person’s life. Students can obtain work experience in a variety of areas, from schools to hospitals and other clinical settings for a two-week block. The practical aspects of the course will give students a good understanding of clinical life, and the qualities and characteristics required for a successful career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
