This course is designed to help learners develop the essential administrative, accounting and financial knowledge and skills which form the basis for a career in industry, commerce or the public service. The course comprises both theoretical and practical modules, and learners will gain an understanding of both manual and integrated book keeping and payroll software.

The course gives learners a solid foundation in the academic, practical and personal skills required for progression to further or higher education or directly to a career in the business area.

Ballsbridge College has been providing a course in English as a Foreign Language for over ten years. During this time the course has expanded to facilitate students with differing levels of English and has become an integral part of the college.

It attracts students from all over the world and from many different cultures and backgrounds. All the students have the desire to learn English in a dynamic environment, on a course that combines English language with the study of business and computers. Many students have used these qualifications to help them secure employment here in Ireland.

This course provides learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the Business and/or Accounting sectors. Students who complete this Level 5 QQI course will have the opportunity to apply for an Apprenticeship with the Accounting Technicians of Ireland where they will work four days a week and attend college one day a week.

A 12-week work placement in a relevant workplace is part of the course. Learners will participate effectively in work experience, will work independently while under general direction, meet deadlines, observe good timekeeping, presentation, communication, adherence to health, safety and other relevant regulations. They will demonstrate personal, interpersonal and technological communication skills.

This course is designed to give a clearly structured business education that provides a solid foundation for success in a business career. This course aims to equip both school leavers and mature applicants with necessary business skills and a thorough knowledge of the computer application packages used in the modern office, as well as preparing learners for further study in related areas. It also suits learners who wish to defer their college place for a year and acquire good IT skills to assist them

This course is designed for students from overseas who wish to improve their knowledge of English and acquire Business and IT Skills. Students get the opportunity to participate in the diverse and vibrant learning environment of Rathmines College.

This course provides intensive English language training at intermediate level. Each student benefits from seven hours per week of English tuition.

The blend of business modules with practical IT skills on this course is a great balance between learning about business, accounting and economics and the day to day IT requirements of working in many business sectors. Successful graduates of this course have the opportunity to apply for progression to popular 3rd level business courses such as Business Studies in DCU (DC111) or Commerce in UCD (DN650).

The aim of this one year full time course is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and under supervision in a range of business sectors and contexts and or to progress to further and or higher education and training.
