This one-year course introduces students to the broadcasting and media industries with a strong emphasis on the practical skills needed to work in radio, television, online media, journalism and content creation.

All aspects of this dynamic course are integrated and assessed through individual or group assignments and projects in the college’s state-of-the-art radio and television studios.

This one-year QQI Level 5 certificate provides a nationally recognized qualification for specialized administrative roles in the medical, dental, and general business sectors. The curriculum focuses on medical secretarial skills, business administration, and workplace computing, tailored to the needs of hospitals, private practices, and the pharmaceutical industry. Designed for immediate career entry, the course equips learners with the technical and organizational expertise required to support diverse healthcare environments.

The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in hairdressing theory, practice and skills to work independently and under supervision in a hairdressing environment and/or to progress to further or higher education or training.

This course is fundamentally designed to provide students with a portfolio of the highest quality that will attain entry to Art and Design courses at third level both nationally and internationally.

This is year one of a two-year course. The course is aimed at those who would like to pursue a career in hairdressing. Subjects within the course are tailored to suit the hairdressing industry and include cutting, styling, colouring, perming, shampoo and condition and barbering techniques. Students will learn and practice their skills in the onsite hairdressing salons and will have the opportunity to work on models. Work experience is an integral part of the course enhancing employability skills.

The course is structured to provide a foundation in theory and practice of health science for learners with the potential for academic progression routes in Nursing and related Health Studies in Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland and the UK. The Nursing Studies course combines a range of modules that provide the learners with realistic experience of the academic demands of studying nursing/health related courses at third level.

The course includes a variety of classroom-based subjects, clinical practical skills, mandatory work placement and independent study. Assessments and assignments are continuous throughout the year. Academic learning consists of a combination of onsite and self-directed learning.

This course will enable students to locate, identify and carry out routine maintenance on a variety of mechanical and electrical components, as well as develop life skills including effective communication techniques, teamwork and independent learning.

This course provides students with the opportunity to build a visual portfolio in the areas of drama film and factual video production, photography, and television studio work. Students will also learn about and experience the many creative roles available in these areas. Students will acquire practical skills in single and multi-camera shooting, photography, and film & video editing, using professional standard equipment. These skills will be evidenced in a portfolio of work including a short film, factual video, scripts, and photography. 

This course is designed to give students an in-depth knowledge of concepts relevant to the business/legal world with an emphasis on Accounting, Economics, Civil and Criminal Law. By combining IT components with business concepts, students will also gain the skills to meet the increasing demands from employers for graduates with hard and soft skills.  Graduates are equipped with the analytical and advocacy skills that stem from legal training combined with numeracy and financial literacy.

This one-year full-time practical course provides students with an introduction to the various forms of art and design. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to prepare a high-quality portfolio of work for entry into third level art and design colleges.

This programme is orientated towards the requirements of the growing sports and leisure industry with particular emphasis on coaching and fitness. It provides theoretical modules for learners interested in pursuing a career in the ever-evolving sports sector. Learners on this programme also have the opportunity to coach in local primary schools.

This one year Construction Technology/Civil engineering will introduce you to the skills of construction and civil engineering which may allow you to progress to construction, architecture and engineering courses in Higher Education or proceed directly into employment. The course is designed to provide students with a hands-on introduction to the broad range of the skills required to work in the construction industry Students are prepared for entry to degree programmes related to the construction industry or for apprenticeships in construction related areas.

The emphasis of the Fitness Instruction & Exercise Science course is to provide a variety of practical skill including the Fundamentals of Resistance Training programme design, Fitness Class instruction and Fitness Testing. Theory classes will enable the learners to understand the essentials of Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Injury Prevention. Ultimately this will allow learners to progress to QQI Level 6 with ITEC Personal Training courses and to gain employment as a Gym Instructor and Life Guard.

Students on this one-year programme will gain practical experience in healthcare clinical settings which, combined with an insight into theories relating to the nursing profession, will enable them to deliver high standards of care. Furthermore, this course will facilitate progression to third-level Nursing and Healthcare programmes.

This is a one year specialist course training students to work as Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) in Pre school, Primary and Secondary School Classrooms. Primary and Secondary Schools as well as specialist schools employ Special Needs Assistants to work in a variety of educational settings.

Applicants should have a love of children and gain pleasure in helping others. If you have a vocation to assist pre school,primary or secondary students and enjoy school life, this course is very fulfilling. You should be mature, hardworking and organised. You will be responsible for securing an appropriate off site work placement.
