The need to provide quality services in a business-oriented manner requires management leadership in all the main functional business areas (finance, marketing, human resource management and operations) as well as strategic leadership.

ABE’s Human Resource Management qualifications provide a pathway through which students can develop a combination of key business skills and industry knowledge in preparation for the varied and exciting careers which the industry offers. The Higher Diploma qualification consists of eight units. Learners must complete all six mandatory units, plus two optional units. All units are mandatory to pass the Written Examination.

The programme is designed for fishing vessel deck oƯicers who hold Skipper Full or Second Hand Full Certificates of Competency and wish to gain Mercantile Marine qualifications. On programme completion the candidates will attain an MTU Special Purpose Award and will be eligible to apply for OƯicer of the Watch/Master on ships less than 500GT Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (CoC) oral examination.
