This course provides students the opportunity to explore and further musicianship and performance skills. Students will gain knowledge of music theory and its practical application to musical styles and genres including writing their own songs. Students will explore the structure of the music industry in addition to gaining practical skills in recording and producing music as a modern production environment. Students will also learn to plan and organise events as part of this course, and will be supported by lecturers who are experienced musicians and industry practitioners.

Designed for aspiring secretaries, receptionists, and administrators, the curriculum covers essential health sector concepts, medical terminology, and audio transcription. Students gain the practical skills needed to operate effectively in hospitals, dental surgeries, and care homes, while also building a foundation in customer service and entry-level accounting for broader business applications

This practical journalism course focuses on developing multimedia skills to prepare students to work across all platforms: social, mobile, broadcast, digital and print journalism.

You will be trained to become a skilled digital content creator who can demonstrate essential skills and use of new technologies for the fast-moving 21st century media workplace. These includes smartphone photography and video journalism and the use of Adobe CC software for digital page production, social media campaigns and digital editing (sound and video). 

This intensive one-year program serves as a dual-purpose gateway for students aspiring to enter the nursing profession or work as Healthcare Assistants. Students master drawing, digital media, and 3D methods while ensuring their work is commercially viable. Through in-house and industry-linked assignments, learners explore sectors like children's books, graphic novels, editorial, and fashion illustration, supported by professional feedback to refine their artistic direction.

This program is designed for aspiring sound engineers, music producers, and promotion specialists seeking a comprehensive foundation in the digital music industry. Combining theoretical knowledge with rigorous practical training, students master the technical nuances of sound engineering while gaining vital industry insights from a faculty of professional engineers and practitioners. A core element of the learning experience is the direct collaboration with Music Performance students to produce annual live events, allowing learners to apply their skills in high-pressure, real-world environments.

This course is suitable for both mature students and school leavers who would like to pursue a fulfilling and rewarding career providing care and support to vulnerable people in the community, but who do not necessarily wish to be a healthcare/special needs assistant.

The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Graphic Design at BCFE is an award-winning, two-year intensive program designed to launch successful careers in the creative industries. By working on a mix of tailored in-house projects and live competition briefs, students develop a sophisticated visual language and the technical versatility required to solve complex design challenges. The curriculum encourages a holistic exploration of the field, merging traditional non-digital methods with cutting-edge digital practices. From mastering typography and branding to exploring motion graphics and art direction, learners cultivate a distinct personal style backed by a solid foundation in design history and theory.

This highly practical course is aimed at producing graduates who will have the core practical skills and experience to work across all areas of television and video production including directing, producing, camera work, sound editing, postproduction, live studio and outside broadcast recording.

The Level 6 Film program is a creative immersion designed for students to express their unique vision through cinematic storytelling. This one-year introductory course is designed for games enthusiasts who wish to master the foundational skills required for the games development industry. The curriculum focuses on a "learning-by-doing" approach, introducing students to industry-standard software such as Maya for 3D modeling, Photoshop for texturing, and Unity 3D for game engine integration. 

This unique program offers two specialized pathways for traditional music enthusiasts. Stream 1 focuses on performance and musicianship, allowing instrumentalists and singers to deepen their understanding of the Irish tradition while mastering music technology. A highlight of the second year is the opportunity for students to record and produce their own CD using professional college facilities. Stream 2 is a dedicated Traineeship in Instrument Making, Repair, and Maintenance, delivered in conjunction with Na Piobairí Uilleann. This hands-on stream allows students to craft iconic instruments, including the harp, mandolin, uilleann pipes, whistle, and flute.

The Art & Design (Portfolio Preparation) course is a concentrated one-year program designed to bridge the gap between creative ambition and entry into world-class Art and Design universities. A 2 year course in classical hand-drawn and computer animation, including character animation, 3d modelling, animating for Feature, TV or Games. This course gives budding artists the chance to express themselves artistically through the medium of animation, both classical (hand-drawn) and computer generated. This dynamic course provides the skills to take individual and group projects from conception to completion. The course aims to enable the student to develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques employed by the professional animator and to acquire the requisite skills for entry into feature, TV or computer game animation.

The curriculum explores the vocational intersections between healthcare and educational support, focusing on person-centred care, inclusivity, and independence. Students develop practical proficiency in a state-of-the-art nursing lab and participate in specialized off-campus training for First Aid and Patient Handling, ensuring they are equipped with the empathy and technical skills required to support diverse populations in hospitals, nursing homes, and community settings.

Animation Drawing Studies is a 1 year foundation course covering animation drawing, animation layout design, painting, sculpture & figure studies

This course will provide you with a great introduction to the world of animation and will give you a strong technical and artistic foundation which will allow you to progress to the HND in Classical and Computer Animation (CCH).

This one-year course concentrates on developing students knowledge and practical skills in the art of cinematography and provides an opportunity to work with experienced teachers to kick-start a career in filmmaking and learn valuable skills needed to enter into the film industry.

Students will acquire practical skills in film camera operations with an emphasis placed on the roles and functions of the camera. These skills will be evidenced through practical projects using high end SONY digital cameras. The productions will ensure the acquisition of other important cinematography skills including lighting, digital editing, and scriptwriting. Students will also learn the art of traditional darkroom black and white portrait photography.

This one-year course introduces students to the broadcasting and media industries with a strong emphasis on the practical skills needed to work in radio, television, online media, journalism and content creation.

All aspects of this dynamic course are integrated and assessed through individual or group assignments and projects in the college’s state-of-the-art radio and television studios.

This course provides students with the opportunity to build a visual portfolio in the areas of drama film and factual video production, photography, and television studio work. Students will also learn about and experience the many creative roles available in these areas. Students will acquire practical skills in single and multi-camera shooting, photography, and film & video editing, using professional standard equipment. These skills will be evidenced in a portfolio of work including a short film, factual video, scripts, and photography.
