This full-time one-year programme will concentrate on helping students develop a portfolio of work with the aim of progressing into further study in the area of art, craft and/or design. It is useful for anyone interested in working in the creative sector or for those simply wishing to further their practical skills in this area.

This programme aims to equip students with sufficient skills to allow them gain access to workshop training programmes/third level programmes.

It will also allow students the opportunity to prepare a portfolio of work. Students on this course may also have completed an Art and Sculpture (Foundation) course.

This is of interest both to students who wish to pursue a career or progress to further study in this area. The programme covers a variety of disciplines, as listed below. Individual studio space allows for development of creativity and challenges the student to become more inventive and confident in their strategic thinking. Visiting artist workshops are organised to encourage an understanding of contemporary artistic practices and thinking. Students are given the opportunity to visit a number of exhibitions and art galleries throughout the academic year. An end-of-year show allows students to display work they have created in the course of the year.

This course designed to cultivate creative thinking and personal expression through a diverse range of artistic mediums. The curriculum provides hands-on exploration in traditional and contemporary practices, including design, ceramics, digital photography, painting, drawing, batik, and stop-motion animation. Students gain full access to the industry-standard Adobe Creative Suite, significantly enhancing their digital and visual media literacy. Throughout the year, learners compile a bespoke, high-quality professional portfolio tailored to their unique talents and interests. The course culminates in a public art exhibition showcasing student work.

This one-year, NFQ Level 5 full time course equips learners with the skills and knowledge in Art and Design. Learners will explore, experiment and build on basic skills in a variety of media and disciplines. Drawing from observation is a core element as is the use of sketchbooks for research and creative thinking. This then leads to project work in other areas such as design, painting, print, ceramics and digital photography.This approach leads to the development of a varied and exciting project lead portfolio, essential in progressing to Art College.

This course involves practical studio and location work. It enables students to develop drawing and observational skills and to explore creativity and personal expression through a broad range of creative processes including Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Painting and Drawing. All projects are broad enough to allow students to develop a portfolio suitable to their particular interests Fine Art, Design, Animation etc. Visits to various art gallerys throughout Ireland takes place during the college term to inform, develop and stimulate the students knowledge of the arts. Work experience takes place throughout the year. It involves two weeks of work placement, artists talks and weekly tutorials.

The Art, Craft and Design (ACD) course offers students the opportunity to explore the varied aspects of fine art, design and craft. Over the year students develop and enhance basic skills in drawing and design and transfer these skills into other areas of study such as ceramics, painting and combined materials amongst others. The student will finish the year with a comprehensive range of skills and a professional portfolio of work. They will also take part in a group exhibition where they get the opportunity to exhibit their work professionally.

Students will have the opportunity to:

• Develop creative thinking and design skills, learning how to plan, research, and bring ideas to life through hands-on projects.
• Improve drawing abilities, using different materials and methods to express ideas and develop a personal artistic style.
• Explore painting techniques, learning how to use colour, texture, and composition to create original artwork.
• Work with clay, gaining hands-on experience in shaping, glazing, and firing to produce finished ceramic pieces.
• Create original prints, using a range of traditional and modern printmaking techniques.
• Use digital photography creatively, learning how to take, edit, and present photographs using digital tools and software.

This course is fundamentally designed to provide students with a portfolio of the highest quality that will attain entry to Art and Design courses at third level both nationally and internationally.

This is an intensive one-year course designed to provide experience in all the essential areas of art and design. If you want to prepare a portfolio for application to third level art courses or if you have an interest in art and would like to develop existing skills, the art and design portfolio course will provide you with the opportunity to do so. This course will introduce you to a wide range of subjects and broaden your understanding of materials, techniques and processes.

This course allows students to create a personal body of work through integrated art, craft, and design projects in an extensively equipped specialist studio. Students can explore and develop their unique creative interests across diverse disciplines like drawing, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, and painting. Upon successful completion, graduates are prepared to advance their studies by applying to Third Level education.

This course is designed for those with a strong interest in design and learning about ceramics and craft skills. This hands-on course provides practical demonstrations from artist teachers, as well as guest artists. Students have the opportunity to design and create a wide range of unique ceramic, sculptural, and printed pieces, as well as upcycling and using sustainable materials.

The aim of this one year full time course course is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of traditional and modern art and craft disciplines including drawing, painting and ceramics as well as working with a variety of materials.

The Fine Art Practice & Design course is aimed at students who have a strong interest in design, creativity and practical skills in art, craft and sculpture. Our course is designed to give you hands-on experience through practical demonstrations, workshops and studio practice sessions, so that you can design and create a wide range of unique craft, sculpture and fine art pieces. Throughout the course, you will learn practical skills such as ceramics, sculpture and fine art techniques, and our emphasis on drawing and design, painting, drawing, colour and light will ensure that you develop your artistic abilities.

This course offers hands on tuition from craft practitioners, where learners will develop and explore their creative and technical skills and gain confidence to progress further in the field of contemporary craft, art and design.

The Certificate in Art, Craft and Design is a one-year QQI Level 5 program tailored for students who have a passion for hands-on, creative production. The curriculum introduces learners to the fundamental principles of design while teaching specialized making skills, with a primary focus on pottery and jewelry. It provides a supportive and experimental environment where students of all experience levels can work with a vast array of materials, including metals, clay, paint, and fabrics. Guided by highly skilled tutors who are active makers themselves, students are encouraged to explore innovative techniques and transform diverse materials into unique, professional-grade craft pieces.

This course is an inclusive program designed for individuals of all experience levels Students are introduced to the fundamental building blocks of visual art—including line, shape, form, and texture—while gaining hands-on experience in painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. The curriculum focuses on nurturing raw enthusiasm into technical skill, encouraging participants to express their unique creative voices through various mediums.
