The Certificate in Arts, Science and Inclusive Applied Practice is a two year programme for students with intellectual disabilities. This course has been accredited at Level 5 by the University Council of Trinity College Dublin. This means that students will receive a formal Level 5 award when they graduate.

The curriculum offers students a high academic standard of learning. The course objective is to realise the full potential of the students with intellectual disabilities. It will help to develop a broad range of skills across a comprehensive curriculum, including preparing graduates to work in diverse employment settings. This course is rooted in evidence-based research and aims to provide students with the independent living skills needed to become full participants in Irish society.

Studying on the Certificate in Social Citizenship at University College Cork offers students a stimulating environment to develop the skills they need to play an active role in shaping their own futures. The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to the study of literature and culture in an Irish context. The course further aims to equip learners with knowledge, skill and competence to critically approach artistic and literary production in Ireland. Learners will explore texts and artefacts from a range of perspectives to understand how cultural identify is both shaped and perceived.

In addition to gaining an excellent grounding in Anglo-Irish Literature and Irish culture, learners will also study History and Psychology to better frame their understanding of literature and cultural developments in an Irish context. The course also offers learners the opportunity to develop their creative writing and a range of practical skills in a friendly and supportive environment led by highly experienced teachers.

The Preparation for Leaving Certificate with ESOL Programme is a Transition Year course which will allow learners to come back to education and prepare for either the Leaving Certificate or a Further Education and Training Course. As such, it’s a starting point for all other courses in Pearse College and beyond.

QQI Level 4 Component Certificates in General Learning.

This is a QQI level 4 course and is also available to VTOS applicants if eligible. It provides students with a general all-round knowledge in key aspects of horticulture. Students are offered a good balance of practical and theory-based skills including: growing vegetables, horticultural practice, plant care and identification. This course will enable you to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of horticulture with real hands-on experience.

If you are interested in working in a shop, an office or hotel reception desk, this course will help you develop the skills and self-confidence to take on that challenge. Customer Service, Computer Applications and Retail Sales modules have been chosen because they teach the skills valued by potential employers for these type of public-facing roles.
