This Course will provide you with a strong foundation in the skills necessary to pursue a career in the private security industry and in Retail Security as either Door Security or Static Guarding in both Ireland and abroad or progress to Third level. The course provides students with an introduction to the different sectors within the security industry in Ireland. Throughout their period of training, students complete work placements with recognised security companies at music concerts, sporting events and other public events.

This course is also of relevance to students who are interested in a career in An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces, Prison Service or Emergency Services. You will obtain a grounding in the various legal aspects of security. Successful achievement of the security modules will enable you to meet part of the requirements for a security license as required under the Private Security Services Act. You will also qualify as a First Aid Responder (FAR) which is awarded by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).

Become PSA licensed under the Private Security Services Act 2004 - and work immediately in the security industry as either door supervisor (licensed premises) and security guard (static).

Under the Private Security Services Act 2004 all security personnel are required to register and obtain a licence. Students who pass Basic Guarding, Security Industry Awareness and Door Security Procedures may apply for a Security licence under the Private Security Services Act 2004.
