TU835 BSc in Spatial Planning and Environmental Management is designed to prepare and equip you with the skills to be a decision-maker and expert practitioner in planning our urban and rural environments. Pipefitters install, repair and maintain high and low- pressure pipe systems used in commercial and industrial installations. You will work on piping systems that carry all kinds of liquids, gaseous and solid materials, and provide a wide range of services including welding and fabrication in a variety of industries. MTU is the only Technological University or Institute of Technology in the country which offers craft level apprenticeship courses in pipefitting.

Successful students gain an industry standard in Pilates Teaching and up-skill as a fitness professional. On successful completion, students will receive an ITEC Diploma. This qualification will equip learners with the practical experience and knowledge to gain successful employment in the sport and fitness industry. There is also the potential to start your own fitness business.

The Pilates Teacher Training Course is designed to enable the learner to develop the personal qualities, knowledge, confidence and skills required to progress and pursue a career as a Pilates Teacher and Massage Therapist in a variety of settings. This unique course combines Pilates Teacher Training with sports massage therapies, body conditioning and exercise.

Students who undertake this one-year course in Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Learners will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

On this course, you will develop foundational skills and knowledge in subjects related to physiotherapy, both theoretical and practical. This will prepare you for progression to Higher Level study.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to work in a supportive role in the area of rehabilitation and physical disability. The Physiotherapist Assistant’s role will be to work under the direction and guidance of a Chartered Physiotherapist to assess, treat and support recovering clients.

Our specialised Pre-University Physiotherapy course, facilitating Level-6 entry, is the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland. This full-time access course, delivered over one year, will appeal to those interested in pursuing a career in physiotherapy. Physiotherapists work with people of all ages across a spectrum of injuries, from sports-related to stroke patients, amputees, and disabled children. They work to rebuild muscle, strengthen limbs, develop balance and help distressed patients to recover.

A major emphasis of the programme is to enhance and strengthen the core subjects required in all physiotherapy courses at third level. This programme includes a variety of components essential to continued studies at university level, including Biomechanics, Sports Anatomy and Sports Psychology. Additionally, students are required to complete sixty hours of work placement within an approved physiotherapy setting. The purpose of this placement is to further immerse learners in the rudiments of practice.

This course is aimed at students interested in pursuing a career in Physiotherapy. Students who undertake this one- year course in Physiotherapy will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and the treatment of injured, ill or disabled patients, through various therapeutic techniques, such as, exercise, massage and taping. Students will develop an understanding of the human body and impaired mobility and its impact on human performance. They will gain an insight into various clinical settings and the implementation of client care and patient handling.

The Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy is a four-year degree programme which includes a total of 31 weeks of clinical practice in the last two years of the programme. Over the remaining three years you will undertake studies in the various disciplines of physiotherapy including cardiorespiratory care, clinical neurology and musculoskeletal disorders for people across the lifespan. In the Physics of Medical Devices module, you’ll gain insights into the medical device industry, from the initial concept of a medical device to its manufacture. In the Diagnostic Imaging module, you’ll gain an understanding of the principles of how an image is formed using x-rays or sound waves, and be able to critically assess the important design features in such imaging devices for optimum image quality.
