Theatre Studies: Performance (Advanced) - 6M3566
This two year full-time acting course is focused on further developing the confi-dence, initiative and performance skills of the student along with their academic development.
The 1st year Level 6 students present a full-length Shakespeare play as their mainstage production. Students also get an opportunity to travel to Padua, Italy on a fully funded Erasmus+ Programme to study the music, mask and movement of Commedia Dell’Arte. Following the trip they perform a Commedia production devised with their director Matteo Destro, in Italy and then Ireland on completion of the program.
The end of the year is focused on the assessments for QQI level 6 components and further performance experience with the Trinity College London Grade 8 examinations in both Acting and Musical Theatre.
The 2nd year diploma students perform two mainstage productions during their final year. An Expressionist show in the first term that showcases not only their acting, but also their Musical Theatre skills.
The end of year graduate production is staged in Smock Alley Theatre. Potential employers such as casting directors, casting agents and industry professionals are invited to attend.
Students then complete their Level 6 award and preparation for the Solo Acting and Musical Theatre Associate Diplomas for Trinity College London at the end of the year.
