This sector is focussed on the many issues we see in society today. Occupations in this sector work towards achieving Social Change in areas such as Equality, Social Justice and Human Rights. Careers in these areas can be highly rewarding and are often supported by many volunteers. The work often takes place in and with the marginalised of our communities who may be experiencing Social Exclusion, Economic Disadvantage and/or Discrimination. The work can be undertaken at Local, National and International level.
People working in this sector will often have a great passion for the cause they work on and empathy for the people they work with such as charities, non-government organisations, not-for-profits, youth and advocating for good causes. The focus being on the collective, rather than the individual.
