As an Advertising Media Salesperson you can work with a variety of different employers. Newspapers, magazine publishers, social media companies, radio, and TV stations, all require skilled sales representatives. In this role you would be responsible for selling advertising space and time in print or digital media. Your clients would include individuals, businesses, and advertising agencies.

Print media includes local and national newspapers and specialist magazines, covering a wide range of topics, thus making for a varied and interesting client base.  Digital media includes selling advertising across all digital platforms. With revenue from audio, newspaper and magazines forecast to decline, almost seventy percent of media advertising is now digital. Spending on global advertising is growing through channels such as social, retail media and connected TV. Companies such as Alibaba, Alphabet, Amazon, Alphabet, ByteDance and Meta are expected to capture over fifty percent of worldwide advertising revenue.

Keeping up to date with advertising trends and key industry contacts is essential. A key part of your role would be advising clients on the most advantageous advertising strategy to meet their needs, target audience and budget. Good communication, numerical and negotiation skills, plus the ability to work to deadlines is required.  This sector is fast paced, customer focused, and target driven.

Media buyers are responsible for ensuring that their advertising campaign reaches their target audience using the most appropriate mode, at the most cost-effective price. As a media buyer you are likely to work in an advertising agency or other media outlet. You may work across a range of platforms or specialise in film, TV, radio, Internet, or print. Your role would involve research, negotiating rates, purchasing, and placing advertising across all relevant media channels.  You need good analytical skills to evaluate your advertising campaigns and ensure they are effective in reaching your objectives.
