There are far more actors, musicians and dancers than there are jobs, but this isn’t a negative thing, it reflects the vibrancy of Irish life, with many people perusing them as a passionate hobby in their free time.

This level of interest means that working as an instructor or teacher is a common source of income for highly skilled musicians, dancers or actors, either as a career or a part time job.

This can mean working with adults trying to learn a new skill, professionals looking to push themselves to a new level or young people trying to see how far they can take their passion. It can be an extremely rewarding way of making money and lucrative once you build a good reputation.

Routes into teaching and instructing can vary from qualifying as a second level music teacher  to setting yourself up as an instructor / coach by advertising online and offering one to one lessons. There are opportunities to set up stage schools incorporating music, drama and dance.

In many cases having the necessary qualifications will be advantageous if you are trying to recruit new clients for example The Royal Irish Academy of Music accreditation.
