Sound & Stage Production

Every performance is driven by skilled professionals or volunteers working behind the scenes, whether it’s the camera operators or gaffers on a film set, or stage constructors and sound people in a theatre.

Stage production workers handle the behind-the-scenes tasks that are necessary for putting on theatrical performances. While they may not have the glamour of the on-camera or on-stage roles, they are driven by the same passion for performance and are as crucial to it occurring.

Off stage positions include sound technicians, lighting technicians, audio-visual technicians, set designers or prop managers. The work involved includes; installing lights, rigging, making props and costumes, sound equipment, and building sets for events in parks, stadiums, arenas, and other places.

It can be physical and strennous work. Staying calm under pressure is essential working on live perfomances, you must have the ability to deal with anything going wrong during a production.

Work in stage and sound production generally means late nights, weekend work and travel especially if you are working with a production or performer on tour.

This kind of work comes with the same pitfalls facing performers, with precarious work and potential periods of unemployment between projects.
