Working for the Civil Service or the Public Service involves working in the departments and public bodies that serves the population by carrying out government policy.

Careers in the area are varied, they are characterised by clearly defined career paths with opportunities for progression and upskilling.  Positions available include clerical officers, executive officers, management staff as well as  technical and specialist roles. Some departments will have positions specific to their field, for example Third Secretary is the primary job title in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
