Every office needs administrators to keep the office going. They look after paperwork, track spending, schedule meetings, manage files and deal with all the other details required in an office.

In certain industries there are more requirements for administrators. Legal assistants will need a certain amount of legal knowledge and assistants in logistics or accountancy companies will need to be very good with numbers.

Progression generally moves along one of two routes. You can specialise in a specific area, such as accounts, or move into management roles, overseeing the proper functioning and staffing of an entire office.
